HUMAN RIGHTS SUPPORT

Below are examples of SITE’s services. Our skills and expertise span a range of industries. We tailor solutions in close coordination with each of our clients.

  • Law firms are increasingly involved in complex cases requiring unique research and investigative services in support of high-stakes litigation. Whether the issues involve corporate clients, high-net-worth individuals, or multinational corporations, SITEl’s experts identify and implement creative solutions. We have been successful in conducting direct negotiations/settlements for many of our clients or providing them with the information required to bolster or support their cases. We understand the need for confidentiality and discretion, which is why our clients have trusted us with their most sensitive work.

  • Provided on-the-ground insights and analysis for a large, multinational oil and gas corporation expanding business operations in a Middle East country. This company required analysis on the local security conditions: Should they expect protests or attacks on their pipelines, people or facilities? Was there strong, local support for multinational corporations or fear of the “outsider”? Were there any terrorist elements in the region, and if so, did they have the support of the local population? In addition, we recommended multiple ways to mitigate those risks through community engagement activities and relationship-building initiatives with local government representatives and civil authorities.

  • Provided critical guidance to a U.S. company setting up a large, multimillion dollar project in a Gulf Arab country. Liaison with government authorities was absolutely critical for this project to be successful, and we served well in helping the U.S. company engage the most senior levels of this country’s government. We enhanced the company’s communications strategy by helping them understand local business requirements and senior government expectations for this multi-year contract. Not only did we facilitate successful negotiations and build operational support for the company’s initiatives, we mentored corporate leadership on how to productively engage their Gulf Arab partners throughout the life of this project.

In addition to assisting with strategic requirements, we provided tactical operational support, such as managing the vetting of new hires and successfully eliminating several significant security threats. We assisted with the recruitment of managers with appropriate cultural and operational expertise that directly responded to client requirements. We identified experienced local staff to effectively fulfill government-mandated requirements. We negotiated services with vendors and subcontractors resulting in significant savings to both the company and their client.

  • Represented a U.S.-based company in negotiating final settlement of a $300 million contract in the Middle East region. While acting as project manager for several months, devised a plan that started with identifying points of mutual agreement in order to kick-start the settlement process. Focused on providing each side with confidence-building measures and managed trust issues between the two sides. Successfully turned around what was initially a hostile dispute and turned it into an amicable agreement, resulting in client receiving multi-million dollar settlement, which concluded a three-year contract.

  • Conducted detailed survey of security operations at two major European airports. Assembled a best-in-class team of aviation and physical security experts from around the world. Worked closely with local civil aviation authorities, local government officials, and security vendors. Provided a comprehensive report that included numerous recommendations to enhance security operations at these airports. Efforts resulted in being awarded the security management contract at the two airports.

  • Provided security advice and assessments to clients involved in democracy building, rule-of-law initiatives, and human rights work in hostile environments. Democracy advocates and human rights workers increasingly facing hostile and dangerous work environments. We provide security surveys and risk assessments prior to and during their work to ensure their effectiveness and protection.

The following 2023 project gives a flavor for ways in which SITE serves our clients’ safety and security needs.

A Look Into One of Our Recent Projects

WHAT?

SITE recently concluded a security management project for a major sporting event that took place in the Middle East region. This was the largest number of American athletes to ever participate in a sporting event in this particular country.

WHO?

Our client was a national sports team representing the USA in a major international sporting event.

Our client had concerns about participating in a public event in the Middle East due to a recent attack on the nearby U.S. consulate (that resulted in one fatality). Furthermore, safety concerns were elevated with the start of the war in Israel and Gaza and warnings issued by the U.S. Government to Americans traveling abroad due to a profusion of threats to U.S. persons and installations in the region.

WHY?

Our Services

  • While many due diligence firms provide assessments based on internet searches or outsourcing work to analysts with limited operational experience, SITE staff members have 14 years of experience living and working in the Middle East and traveling to over 50 countries. SITE leadership traveled to the location of the future event to obtain ground truth insights: We met with the sporting event organizers, host country government and security officials, and U.S. Government officials living and working in that country. We physically examined all venues that were to be used for the sporting event. We also did an assessment of various lodging options and provided recommendations based on security considerations. Finally, we spent time interacting with the local population to gauge attitudes towards the event and Americans, in particular.

  • For a period of three months prior to and throughout the sporting event, our analysts used powerful OSINT tools to monitor political, military and security developments in the Middle East region to determine their potential impact on our client. This went beyond a simple search of the news and looked deeper into multi-lingual social media, dark-web and extremist organizations’ online forums. We provided bi-weekly reports with robust analysis. Furthermore, we participated in planning meetings and were available 24/7 for team leadership as they made critical decisions about their participation.

  • Once the team decided to participate in the event, SITE deployed a team of 10 highly-skilled executive protection professionals. We provided low-visibility security for our client and handled all logistical and transportation needs during the event. This ranged from providing airport arrival and departure VIP services, medical/first-aid personnel, physical security, and contingency/evacuation plans in the event of an emergency.
